Heirloom fruits and vegetables add variety and diversity to the table. Big Food only produces a few varieties of fruits and vegetables; if a disease or infestation were to hit, we’d be in trouble. So this is one reason to plant heirloom crops. Another is to add some color and vibrance to the dinner table.
